Project 417 works to engage faith communities in reaching out to socially isolated and homeless people. The goal is for members of different faith communities to become personally involved in a family-style dinner. The guests are from the local community who maybe in crisis.
Since 1997, Calvary Church has been a place where members of the community including street-involved, welfare recipients and the working poor can come together for a hot meal. This season the community dinner will run each Tuesday night from November 2, 2010 to March 29, 2011 aiming is to bridge the gap between the faith community and the often marginalized. Both our guests from the community and the volunteers who prepare the meal, sit and eat together.
Project 417 can offer guidance, if your Church is interesting in starting a Community Dinner for your local community.
