Community Dinners

What is it?

The Community Dinner Program has been carefully designed be Ekklesia Inner-city Ministries to engage faith communities in reaching out to socially isolated and homeless people. The goal is for members of different faith communities to become personally involved on a family style dinner. The guests are from the local community who maybe in crisis.

Guidelines

  1. Dinner is prepared ahead of time by one family group who will be hosting a table between 4 to 8 people. The preparation can be doneby those who will be hosting or by any individual in the hosting community. We could between 2 to 10 hosting tables.
  2. Tables are set with personal dining items. Table cloths, silverware, napkins, candles and decorations specific to the season.
  3. It is expected that when guest arrive there will be some time between their arrival and the meal being served. It works well to have some punch and cheese/ crackers during this time.
  4. It is encouraged to serve the food "family style" .
  5. Leftover are usually offered to the guests.
